Le rêve d'Esther(1996)

Esther's Dream follows a Turkish-born woman who has become a French citizen and settled in Paris. Estranged from her daughter Sarah, who was raised in a distant boarding school, Esther struggles with a secret illness that keeps her from contact with the girl. Sarah believes herself abandoned, unaware that her mother's silence stems from a desire to shield her from painful truths. The film explores the emotional distance between mother and daughter, the weight of unspoken suffering, and the consequences of sacrifice made in isolation. As their separation deepens, the possibility of reconciliation hangs in the balance, forcing both women to confront what they've lost and what might still be recovered.
