The Dog Pound(2006)

The Dog Pound is a Spanish-language film about David, a university student who has failed his exams and must retake them within a year. His father Ruben, a successful businessman, strikes a bargain: David can study at his house in La Perrera, a coastal resort town, on the condition that he helps build a new home there. Uprooted from city life, David finds himself among the town's eccentric off-season residents—a community where dogs outnumber people, work is optional, and favors matter more than money. Isolated and surrounded by pregnant women and sex workers, the intellectual young man must navigate a world governed by friendship and improvisation rather than ambition. What begins as a practical arrangement becomes an unexpected year-long journey of self-discovery in a place where nothing works as planned.
