Ekaete is a Nigerian drama following an 18-year-old girl from rural Akwa Ibom state who has never attended secondary school due to poverty. Desperate to escape her circumstances, she accepts an offer from Mrs Uzomma, a woman who promises to set her up in the fashion business after a year of domestic work in Lagos. Ekaete arrives in the city full of hope, unaware of the harsh realities awaiting her. The film explores themes of ambition, exploitation, and survival as the young woman confronts the gap between her dreams and the brutal truth of her new life. A stark portrait of vulnerability and resilience in contemporary Nigeria.
