Environment
Environment(1971)
Environment is a science fiction featurette that puts five residents of Eagle Valley on trial before an alien court for environmental crimes. Blending the theatrical absurdity of a Pirandello play with B-movie sci-fi aesthetics and documentary realism, the film uses its premise to interrogate humanity's relationship with nature, pollution, and consumption. Made primarily for high school audiences, Environment was designed to provoke classroom discussion rather than entertain. The film draws inspiration from Irwin Allen's The Story of Mankind, using speculative fiction as a vehicle for environmental critique. Its hybrid approach—part philosophical drama, part pulp science fiction, part educational documentary—creates an unusual viewing experience that prioritizes ideas over conventional narrative.
