Phool(1945)

Phool is a drama centered on a Muslim family facing financial and moral crisis. When Safhar loses his inheritance through his sister-in-law's actions, he remains bound by his late father's dying wish: to complete construction of a mosque. Unable to finish the work himself, responsibility falls to his brother Salim—until Salim departs to fight in the Balkans. The burden then passes to the sister-in-law's orphaned daughter, who must choose between honoring family obligation and reclaiming her own freedom. As she grapples with this impossible decision, the film explores themes of duty, sacrifice, and a woman's agency within tradition.
