Steak(2007)

Steak is a darkly comic French film about friendship, violence, and adolescent alienation. George, bullied mercilessly by his classmates, snaps and opens fire at school. His best friend Blaise takes the fall and spends seven years in a psychiatric hospital. Upon release, Blaise seeks out George, expecting gratitude and reconnection. Instead, George has moved on, desperate to join the "Chivers"—a bizarre gang of red-jacketed delinquents who speak in non-sequiturs, consume milk obsessively, and play a violent, incomprehensible hybrid of cricket and mathematics. As Blaise struggles to reclaim his only meaningful relationship, the film explores the toxic bonds between outcasts and the cruel logic of teenage hierarchies. Surreal and unsettling, Steak examines how trauma and social rejection warp identity and belonging.
