Playhouse 90 is an American television anthology series that aired on CBS from 1956 to 1960, delivering 133 episodes of original drama. Broadcast live from CBS Television City in Los Angeles, the show distinguished itself by extending the standard hour-long format to ninety minutes, allowing writers and directors to develop stories with greater scope and complexity. The series emerged from a pitch by Frank Stanton, CBS's influential executive, and was developed by vice president Hubbell Robinson, who shaped the program's creative vision despite receiving no on-screen credit.
