Blue Thunder(1984)

Blue Thunder is a 1984 ABC action series built around an advanced military helicopter of the same name. The show follows a specialized air unit equipped with a converted Aérospatiale Gazelle helicopter, supported on the ground by a camouflaged mobile command van called Rolling Thunder. James Farentino leads an ensemble cast that includes Dana Carvey, Bubba Smith, and Dick Butkus in this high-octane adventure series. The show reuses footage and hardware from the 1983 film of the same title to bring its aerial sequences to life. ABC canceled Blue Thunder after just eleven episodes, unable to compete with the similar helicopter drama Airwolf on CBS and the Friday-night dominance of Dallas. Despite its short run, the series captured the action-packed spirit of 1980s television.
