El pecado de Oyuki(1988)

El pecado de Oyuki is a Mexican telenovela from 1988 produced by Televisa, based on Yolanda Vargas Dulché's original story. The drama centers on Oyuki, a Japanese-Mexican woman navigating love and identity in Mexico, with Sachiko Tsuchiya—a Tepic-born photographer and the era's most recognizable Asian-Mexican figure—in the lead role. Vargas Dulché adapted her own screenplay for television, drawing from her earlier foto-novela comic series. The telenovela aired in the United States via Univision the same year it premiered. Vargas Dulché's story proved enduring across formats: it was adapted as a Brazilian telenovela in 1967 called Yoshiko, um poema de amor, and as a comic book series starting in 1975 by Grupo Editorial Vid.
