City of Vice(2008)

City of Vice is a historical drama set in 1750s London, when armed gangs, corrupt officials and thief takers controlled the city's most dangerous streets. Two Westminster magistrates—novelist Henry Fielding and his brother John—secured a parliamentary grant to establish order in the crime-ridden boroughs of central London. The series follows their efforts to create the first modern police force and combat the organized crime that plagued the capital. Against a backdrop of violence and corruption, the Fielding brothers navigate political resistance, criminal networks and moral compromise as they attempt to transform law enforcement and reclaim the city from those who ruled it through fear and brutality.
