Pond Life(1996)

Pond Life is a British animated series created by Candy Guard that chronicles the neurotic escapades of Dolly Pond, a self-absorbed protagonist navigating life's complications. Two series aired on Channel 4: the first in 1996 as thirteen 15-minute episodes, with two adult-themed installments screened late at night, and a second in 2000 comprising seven 30-minute episodes. The show originated from a 1992 pilot co-commissioned by Channel 4 and S4C. Despite scheduling challenges—it aired earlier than planned and required edits for language—Pond Life earned critical recognition, winning multiple awards and receiving a Writer's Guild nomination for Best Sitcom, competing against live-action comedies including Only Fools and Horses. Guard's second major breakthrough, the series found its audience despite being scheduled opposite the Australian soap Neighbours.
