Heartburn Hotel(1998)

Heartburn Hotel is a British comedy-drama following two ex-Falkland Islands veterans whose lives have taken wildly different paths. Harry Springer runs the shabby Olympic Hotel in Smethwick, a refuge for drunks, homeless people, and asylum seekers, while his old army mate Duggie Strachan—now a schoolteacher—finds himself reluctantly staying there. Harry claims he once saved Duggie's life during their service, a debt that hangs over their reunion. The series explores the tension between their competing versions of the past and the unlikely community that gathers under the hotel's roof, blending dark humour with genuine human drama as these men navigate friendship, pride, and second chances.
