Sébastien and Mary-Morgane(1970)

Sébastien and Mary-Morgane is a French drama series that follows a young man sent by his father to meet his estranged uncle, Captain Louis Maréchal, a fishing-boat operator living in a grand mansion in Morsant. There, Sébastien encounters Jonathan and Clarisse, household staff connected to Sophie-Virginie, daughter of his uncle's business partner. As he settles into this new world, Sébastien uncovers the painful truth behind his uncle's withdrawn life: a former resistance fighter, Louis lost his wife and son during World War II, his grief frozen in time since January 1943. Through conversations with those around him, Sébastien moves from judgment to compassion, gradually understanding the weight of his uncle's sorrow and building an unexpected bond with him.
