Trail of the Beast(2023)

Trail of the Beast is a Serbian series set in 1979 Yugoslavia, where an ambitious reporter and a retired UDBA colonel are drawn into investigating a brutal murder in a small Serbian town. Jugoslav works within a state that tightly controls the media, driven by his hunger for a story that could define his career. Blagoje, a former secret police officer struggling with health issues, has his own reasons for pursuing the case. As their separate investigations intersect, the two men must navigate a dangerous landscape of political censorship, institutional corruption, and personal demons. The series explores the tension between truth-seeking and state power during a pivotal moment in Yugoslav history, blending crime drama with the paranoia and moral ambiguity of an authoritarian regime.
