Double Duty(2020)

Double Duty is a Chinese war series set during the final stages of the Liberation War. Captain Zhuang leads a small PLA unit pursuing a retreating Nationalist regiment to Heishan Temple, where a contagious disease has decimated the enemy forces. Disguised as medical assistants, Zhuang's team infiltrates the temple to work alongside Dr. Wei, a captured local physician. As they treat the sick and contain the outbreak, the soldiers uncover tunnel networks and identify defectors willing to switch sides. The series balances military strategy with humanitarian crisis, following a tense operation where medical care becomes both cover and genuine necessity. Zhuang must navigate the moral complexities of war while managing disease, loyalty, and the chance to turn enemy soldiers into allies.
