On the Beach is a post-apocalyptic drama set in a world devastated by nuclear war. Australia stands as humanity's last refuge, but a deadly radioactive cloud drifts inexorably toward the continent. When an American submarine surfaces in the Pacific, its arrival sparks tension among the Australian population. A renowned scientist calculates that the country faces certain doom, yet a rival researcher challenges his findings, proposing that a thousand people might survive by relocating to the northern hemisphere where radiation levels could be lower. The American captain accepts a dangerous mission to travel north and determine which scientist's predictions are correct. As hope and despair collide, the crew confronts the possibility that this journey may be humanity's final act.
