The '60s is a drama series that follows two families navigating America's most turbulent decade. The Herlihys, a working-class Chicago family, see their three children chart dramatically different courses: Brian enlists in the Marines and ships to Vietnam, Michael throws himself into civil rights activism and radical politics, and Katie abandons home for a San Francisco hippie commune. Parallel to their story, the Taylors, an African-American family in the Deep South, face tragedy when Willie Taylor, a minister and civil rights organizer, is assassinated. His son Emmet relocates to the city and eventually becomes a Black Panther bodyguard for Fred Hampton. The series weaves together personal coming-of-age stories with the era's defining social upheaval—Vietnam, civil rights, counterculture, and Black Power—showing how national convulsion reshapes individual lives.
