Der Idiot(1968)

Der Idiot is a Russian drama series that follows Prince Myshkin, a man recently discharged from a Swiss sanatorium who arrives in St. Petersburg and is immediately drawn into the city's turbulent social world. Driven by his compassionate nature, Myshkin becomes entangled in the fate of Nastasya, a woman trapped in a degrading situation, and impulsively proposes marriage to save her from exploitation. His noble intentions collide with his growing feelings for Aglaya, a young woman from St. Petersburg's elite circles. As Myshkin navigates between his desire to help and his own heart, he discovers that goodness alone cannot protect those he cares for in a society governed by wealth, ambition, and cruelty.
