Tarabas(1982)

Tarabas is a historical drama set on the eve of World War I. Nicholas Tarabas, a Russian landowner's son and Catholic sympathizer, has been exiled to America after becoming an assassin. He returns to his homeland as a hardened soldier, earning the fearsome nickname "the Terrible" for his ruthless conduct. When violent pogroms against Jewish communities break out, Tarabas confronts his conscience for the first time. The film explores his moral awakening amid the chaos and brutality of early twentieth-century Eastern Europe, charting his transformation from a man defined by violence to one capable of questioning his own actions and beliefs.
