De Fabeltjeskrant is a Dutch children's series that blended puppetry and stop-motion animation into a beloved fixture of 1960s and '70s television. Created by Leen Valkenier and produced by Thijs Chanowski and Loek de Levita, the show ran from 1968 to 1989 across Dutch broadcasters NOS, RTL 4, and RTL 8, as well as Belgian channel VRT. The series found an international audience when it aired in the United Kingdom on ITV between 1973 and 1975 under the title The Daily Fable. Each episode presented charming tales brought to life through handcrafted puppets and meticulous stop-motion work, making it a pioneering example of European children's programming that combined storytelling with innovative practical effects.
