Happy Mother-in-Law, Pretty Daughter-in-Law is a Chinese series following Ma Linglong, a former Qing Dynasty princess turned professional matchmaker, as she navigates the marriages of her three sons. Linglong has exacting standards for her daughters-in-law: she envisions intelligent, hardworking wives who will elevate the family. Instead, her eldest son Changsheng marries the money-obsessed Manguan, her middle son Changhuan falls for the naive ex-convict Jinyu, and her Western-educated youngest son Changjun chooses Bajie, the family's matchmaking apprentice who is older than him.
