Rebel Highway is a 1994 Showtime anthology series that reimagines 1950s drive-in B-movies for the 1990s. Created by Lou Arkoff and Debra Hill, each of the ten episodes borrows its title from a late 1950s or early 1960s American International Pictures film, but tells an entirely new story. The series applies a contemporary edge to the exploitation and teen rebellion themes of the original era, pushing boundaries with edgier content and grittier storytelling. Rather than faithful remakes, these standalone installments capture the spirit of classic drive-in cinema while embracing a more provocative, modern sensibility.
