Living Single is an American sitcom that aired on Fox from 1993 to 1998, following six friends navigating life and work while sharing a Brooklyn brownstone. The series became one of the most popular African-American sitcoms of the 1990s, consistently ranking in the top five among Black households across all five seasons. Produced by Yvette Lee Bowser's company Sister Lee in association with Warner Bros. Television, Living Single anchored Fox's Thursday night lineup alongside Martin and New York Undercover—the three highest-rated shows among Black viewers during the 1996–1997 season. While NBC dominated mainstream Thursday night television with "Must See TV," Living Single and its Fox companions captured a devoted audience that made the network a cultural destination for African-American and Latino viewers throughout the decade.
