The Colbys(1985)

The Colbys is an American prime-time soap opera that aired on ABC from November 1985 to March 1987. A spin-off of the hit series Dynasty, the show followed another fabulously wealthy family—distant relatives of the Carringtons—who controlled a sprawling multinational corporation. Produced by Aaron Spelling with an enormous budget for its era, The Colbys assembled an impressive cast including Charlton Heston, Barbara Stanwyck, Katharine Ross, and Ricardo Montalban. The series aimed to outshine Dynasty with lavish sets and glamorous storylines centered on power, wealth, and family intrigue. Despite its star power and production values, The Colbys failed to capture audiences and was canceled after two seasons, becoming a ratings disappointment.
