Password(1961)

Password is an American game show created by Bob Stewart that became a television staple across three decades. Hosted by Allen Ludden, the series originally aired on CBS from 1961 to 1967, running both as a daily daytime program and weekly prime time slot. The format proved durable enough to spawn additional daytime runs on ABC throughout the 1970s, plus two NBC revivals in the 1980s and a CBS prime time revival in 2008. The show's simple premise—contestants guessing words from clues—made it accessible and addictive, earning it a ranking as one of television's greatest game shows. TV Guide named Password number eight on its list of the 60 greatest game shows ever in 2013.
