Love Child(2014)

Love Child is an Australian drama series set in 1960s Kings Cross, following the intersecting lives of hospital staff and residents in one of Sydney's most notorious neighbourhoods. Joan Miller, a sharp midwife returning from London, takes a position at Kings Cross Hospital alongside the charismatic Dr Patrick McNaughton, head of obstetrics. The series centres on the tension between compassion and institutional control, particularly through tough matron Frances Bolton, who oversees both the hospital and Stanton House, a refuge for unmarried pregnant women. Against the backdrop of a changing society, the show explores the personal struggles and moral complexities faced by those working in obstetrics during an era of significant social upheaval.
