Papa Katsu(2017)

Papa Katsu is a Japanese drama series following Anri, a 20-year-old university student forced to leave home after her mother takes a new boyfriend. Sleeping rough in internet cafes, Anri discovers the world of "papakatsu"—compensated dating—and meets Wataru, a 45-year-old university lecturer who offers her shelter in a rented apartment. What begins as a transactional arrangement grows complicated when Anri uncovers a dark secret Wataru has been concealing. The series explores the vulnerability of youth, the blurred lines between transaction and intimacy, and the dangerous power dynamics that emerge when desperation meets deception.
