Mirada de Mujer is a Mexican telenovela that premiered on TV Azteca in 1997, adapted from the Colombian series Señora Isabel. The show became a landmark production for TV Azteca, marking the network's breakthrough moment and the first major telenovela for five leading actors who had previously worked exclusively for rival Televisa. Set against the backdrop of complex relationships and personal transformation, the series captured audiences across Latin America and beyond, reaching viewers in Afghanistan, Israel, Eastern Europe, and India, where it aired dubbed in Hindi as Maria. In a historic upset, Mirada de Mujer won the TVyNovelas Award for Best Telenovela of the Year—a rare honor for a non-Televisa production at the time.
