Die Dämonen(1977)

Die Dämonen is a period drama set in 1870s Russia, where the influential landowner Varvara Stavrogina and Professor Stepan Verkhovensky dominate local society. Their sons—Nikolai and Pyotr—are abroad in Geneva when Nikolai becomes engaged to the beautiful Lisa Tushina. The engagement threatens to unravel when his existing marriage comes to light, setting off a chain of deception and scandal. The series explores themes of ambition, betrayal, and the clash between old aristocratic values and emerging radical ideologies, drawing from Dostoevsky's classic novel.
