The show debuted on ABC on January 29, 1995, as the lead-out program following the network's Super Bowl XXIX coverage. Despite its high-profile premiere slot, Extreme failed to find an audience. ABC canceled the series after just seven episodes, with the final episode airing on April 6, 1995, leaving six episodes unbroadcast.
