Getaway is a Southeast Asian comedy-drama following Sam, a Singaporean man whose public coming out spirals into chaos. Desperate for escape, he flees to Bangkok in search of his estranged uncle, a gay man who left Singapore years ago. There Sam meets Top, a perpetually unlucky Thai romantic searching for love in all the wrong places. What begins as a solo journey of self-discovery becomes an unlikely friendship as the two navigate identity, family expectations, and the messy realities of queer life across two countries. The series balances humour with genuine emotional stakes, exploring how cultural differences and personal shame shape the paths we take—and the people we find along the way.
