Kate Brasher(2001)

Kate Brasher is an American drama series that aired on CBS for six episodes before cancellation. The show premiered on Saturday, February 24, 2001, and followed a single mother of two teenage sons who faces financial hardship and takes a job as a social worker at Brothers Keepers, an inner-city community advocacy center. There she works alongside attorney Abbie Schaeffer and Joe Almeida, the organization's street-smart founder who established it after his daughter was killed in gang violence. Creator Stephen Tolkin based Almeida on Rabbi Mark Borovitz, an ex-convict turned spiritual leader of a Jewish recovery center. Though set in Santa Monica, the series was filmed in San Diego.
