Kid Nation(2007)

Kid Nation is an American reality series that premiered on CBS in September 2007. Hosted by Jonathan Karsh, the show drops 40 children aged 8 to 15 into a remote New Mexico town and challenges them to build a functioning society from scratch. With minimal adult supervision, the young participants must establish their own government, divide labor, and solve everyday problems together. Filmed at Bonanza Creek Movie Ranch near Santa Fe, Kid Nation explores what happens when kids are given genuine responsibility and autonomy. The experiment tests their ability to cooperate, negotiate, and lead—revealing how children approach governance and community when adults step back.
