Love ⇄ Distance is a Japanese series set in summer 2020, when lockdowns keep people indoors and isolated. Six residents of an apartment building form unexpected connections. Miwa, a magazine editor, and her husband Akira, a video producer, navigate their marriage while working from home. Downstairs, three popular content creators livestream from their apartment. Asano Chiaki, a photographer who lost his job during the pandemic, spends his days capturing quiet moments from rooftops and verandahs. When he glimpses Miwa watering flowers on her balcony, attraction sparks between them. As proximity breeds intimacy in confined spaces, the residents discover how distance—both physical and emotional—shapes their relationships. The series explores longing, connection, and the vulnerability that emerges when ordinary life becomes extraordinary.
