Lowdown follows Alex Burchill, a gossip columnist for the struggling Sunday Sun tabloid, as he navigates the chaotic world of celebrity interviews. Each week brings fresh disaster: drunken punches, arrests, and betrayals—often involving his girlfriend Rita. Yet these humiliations fuel his column, the paper's last lifeline against extinction. Alex's job is to feed the public's hunger for scandal, but the celebrities he pursues seem determined to make his life miserable. Despite the constant chaos and personal cost, his column remains the only thing keeping the Sunday Sun from going under. The series mines dark comedy from the collision between ambition and degradation in tabloid journalism.
