Masterclass(2010)

Masterclass is a documentary series that follows young artists as they train intensively with renowned mentors across various disciplines. Each half-hour episode captures the mentorship experience of a small group of emerging talents working one-on-one with established masters of their craft. The series premiered on HBO in April 2010 with opera legend Plácido Domingo guiding three aspiring singers. Participants are selected from YoungArts, a Miami-based program of the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts that nurtures emerging talent. Produced and directed by Karen Goodman and Kirk Simon, the series offers an intimate look at the creative process and the challenges of artistic development. The show earned a Primetime Emmy nomination in 2011 for Outstanding Children's Nonfiction, Reality or Reality-Competition Program.
