Orphen(1998)

Orphen is a fantasy series following a sorcerer who settles in a quiet town as a teacher to Majic Lin, his landlord's son. His peaceful routine shatters when Cleao Everlasting returns from boarding school and disrupts his plans to claim the Sword of Baltanders, a magical artifact hanging in her family's home. The sword is one of three relics Orphen needs to save Azalie, a woman transformed by a catastrophic magical experiment—one that involved the very blade he seeks. Before he can retrieve it, the violent Bloody August faction attacks the town in pursuit of the same weapon. Forced to act, Orphen embarks on a quest alongside his reluctant apprentice Cleao and two eccentric companions to locate the remaining Baltander relics and undo Azalie's curse.
