Paris(1994)

Paris is a British sitcom that aired on Channel 4 in 1994, written by Arthur Mathews and Graham Linehan, the duo behind Father Ted. Set in 1920s Paris, the show follows Alain Degout, a struggling French artist desperate for fame whose work consistently fails to gain traction. The comedy mines his misadventures as he navigates the bohemian art scene, chasing recognition while his talent remains unappreciated. Despite critical interest in the writers' sharp comedic voice, Paris ran for just one series of six episodes before cancellation. The show captures the period's artistic ambitions and social pretensions with the irreverent humour that would later define Mathews and Linehan's more celebrated work.
