Starved(2005)

Starved is a dark comedy series that aired on FX in 2005, following four friends navigating life with eating disorders after meeting at a support group called Belt Tighteners. Creator Eric Schaeffer wrote, directed, and starred in the show, drawing from his own struggles with bulimia and binge eating, alongside experiences shared by the cast members who had similarly battled food issues. The series balances humor with the serious realities of anorexia, bulimia, and compulsive eating, offering an unflinching look at addiction and recovery. Despite premiering as FX's flagship comedy in August 2005, Starved struggled with critics and was cancelled after just seven episodes, losing out to It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia for renewal. The show remains a bold, unconventional take on mental health and friendship.
