Telescope
Telescope(1963)
Telescope is a Canadian documentary series that aired on CBC Television from 1963 to 1973, hosted by Fletcher Markle. Each episode profiled a notable Canadian—from celebrities to everyday people—who made a meaningful impact. Starting in September 1966, Telescope became the first regular colour broadcast in Canada, produced by Sam Levene. The series featured interviews with figures like game show host Monty Hall, author Farley Mowat, actor John Vernon, and underwater explorer Joe MacInnis. A memorable 1970 episode included actor Donald Sutherland and early footage of his son Kiefer. Later episodes, hosted by Ken Kavanagh, explored mentalist Uri Geller alongside magicians Ray Hyman and Jerry Andrus, who demonstrated how Geller's seemingly paranormal abilities could be replicated through illusion. CBC preserved ten episodes from the 1970–1971 season in their Digital Archives.
