The Message(2020)

The Message is a wartime thriller set in 1942 Nanjing under Japanese occupation. When a series of assassinations targets officials of the puppet government, the Japanese spy chief rounds up suspects in a mansion for interrogation and torture. A Chinese code-breaker must find a way to transmit a vital message while concealing their true identity, leading to a tense cat-and-mouse game between captor and captive. As suspicion mounts and loyalties blur, the protagonist navigates a deadly web of deception where a single mistake could prove fatal.
