The Runner(2020)

The Runner is a Hong Kong drama that follows Ho Ka Yan, an online media editor tasked with investigating an athletics club, where she meets running coach Yuen Lik. Haunted by past regrets, Yuen Lik has isolated himself from meaningful connections, but his interactions with Ka Yan gradually draw him closer. When his longtime friend Lai Shun Fan faces a life-threatening illness, Yuen Lik finds renewed purpose in supporting him through recovery. As the club expands with new members—including sponsor Kwok Wong Po's daughter—old secrets surface, revealing that Ka Yan and Shun Fan share a complicated history. Through their struggles and interconnected relationships, Yuen Lik confronts his own demons and decides to return to competitive running, discovering that sometimes the greatest victories come from helping others find their way.
