Augustin(1995)

Augustin is a French comedy about a guileless insurance clerk with a stammer who dreams of acting. After landing a small role as a bellhop, Augustin approaches the part with such earnest literalism that he becomes perfect for it—precisely because he misses every joke. Between his day job and bit parts in commercials and experimental films, he navigates a world that constantly underestimates him. His coworkers tease him mercilessly. When he's cast in a government film about rabbit myxomatosis, Augustin remains oblivious to the absurdity around him. The film explores whether anything can penetrate his sincere, deadpan view of reality, finding comedy in his refusal to acknowledge the ridiculous.
