Serengeti Shall Not Die is a documentary film chronicling the establishment of Tanzania's Serengeti National Park in the late 1950s. When the Tanzanian National Park Administration planned to fence the area around Ngorongoro Crater, they enlisted wildlife researchers Bernhard and Michael Grzimek to document animal migrations and gather data for the project. Using innovative aerial surveys with two planes, the Grzimeks conducted unprecedented counts of migrating herds across the vast landscape. Their findings revealed that the animals' migration patterns differed significantly from what park officials had previously believed, fundamentally challenging assumptions about the ecosystem and shaping conservation strategy for one of Africa's most iconic wildlife reserves.
