The Royal Waltz(1936)

The Royal Waltz is a 1852-set historical drama following young Austrian emperor Franz Joseph as he enlists his friend Count Michel de Thalberg to court the Bavarian duchess Elisabeth on his behalf. Upon arriving in Munich, Thalberg encounters an attractive woman in a public garden—a chance meeting that a witness misinterprets as a romantic advance. The woman is revealed to be the daughter of Ludwig Tomasini, a prominent caterer, and the witness convinces her father that marriage is the only way to salvage the family's reputation. What begins as a misunderstanding spirals into an unexpected entanglement, tangling Thalberg between imperial duty and an arranged union born from scandal and social pressure.
