The Long Slow Flight of the Ashbot(2015)

The Long Slow Flight of the Ashbot is a science fiction film following an ash-collecting robot as he drifts beyond outer space and witnesses the collapse of the universe. The third installment in director Colin West McDonald's The Robot Scriptures series, it explores the origin, evolution, and exodus of artificial intelligence through a contemplative, visually distinctive lens. Based on cartoonist Joel Priddy's work, the film combines speculative worldbuilding with intimate character study, tracking one machine's solitary journey through cosmic dissolution. McDonald's trilogy uses robotic protagonists to examine what it means to exist, persist, and ultimately transcend in an indifferent universe.
