Sons of New Mexico is a Western starring Gene Autry as a man determined to reform a troubled youth named Randy Pryor, played by Dick Jones. When Pryor is enrolled at the New Mexico Military Institute, he struggles against the school's strict discipline and eventually escapes to rejoin his criminal mentor, Pat Feeney. Much of the film was shot on location at the actual military institute. While not quite reaching the heights of Autry's earlier Riders in the Sky, Sons of New Mexico remains a solid entry in the star's catalog, showcasing his trademark blend of action and moral conviction as he works to steer the wayward boy toward a better path.
