Limbo(2015)

Limbo is an Italian drama following Manuela Paris, a decorated army officer who returns to her coastal hometown near Rome on Christmas Eve after years away. Wounded in a brutal attack in Afghanistan, Manuela struggles to rebuild her life while battling trauma, disillusionment, and the weight of commanding thirty soldiers. Back home, she confronts not only her psychological scars but also society's expectations of her as a woman and a victim. Her chance encounter with Mattia, a mysterious hotel guest equally trapped in his own limbo of uncertainty and longing, becomes a turning point. As their connection deepens, both discover that redemption and meaning lie in confronting their pasts. The film explores how survival means more than physical recovery—it means reclaiming agency and learning that people are rarely what they appear to be on the surface.
