Christmas at Camp 119(1947)

Christmas at Camp 119 is a wartime drama set in a California prisoner-of-war camp in the final days of World War II. Italian soldiers, still awaiting repatriation long after the fighting has ended, prepare to spend another Christmas far from home. To ease their homesickness, they share stories and memories—a Roman recounts a troubled marriage, a Neapolitan recalls his penniless aristocratic officer, a Sicilian remembers spring festivities, and a Venetian gondolier reflects on a lost love. The camp commander provides a gramophone, and their tales intertwine with music and radio broadcasts from Italy. As news from home crackles through a shabby receiver, the men find solace in remembrance. Eventually, the long-awaited release comes, and they finally return home.
