The Cave of the Silken Web(1927)

The Cave of the Silken Web is an early cinematic adaptation of the Chinese classic novel Journey to the West. When Tang Xuanzang ventures out alone in search of food, he falls captive to seven spider demons disguised as beautiful women. The Monkey King and Xuanzang's other two disciples mount a rescue, aided by the Bodhisattva Guanyin. Together they overcome the demons' seductive illusions, renounce worldly desire, and resume their sacred quest for the Buddhist Scriptures. This film captures a pivotal episode from the beloved epic, blending action, fantasy, and spiritual themes as the pilgrims face supernatural trials on their journey.
